Union Square in San Francisco is known as one of the most popular public sites in the city. Today, many come to visit the square to people watch and to enjoy the scenery of San Francisco. Union Square has been around since 1850, when Colonel John Geary deeded the land to San Francisco city, and is now a public park that hosts events within the area and offers many attractions to those touring San Francisco.

About Union Square

Unions Square has many shops within the area. For those with a taste for artwork, you can explore the Jenkins Johnson Gallery, which has been devoted to representing contemporary art since 1993. If you’re looking for a place to chop for clothing, you can find Macy’s, Abercrombie and Fitch, or Forever 21 located within the area. There are also plenty of gift stores nearby, a few of which being: Alessi, Gumps, and Tiffany and Co. Nearby is a Disney store for those who are visiting with their children, and an Apple store for those shopping for tech-related items. There’s something for everyone in Union Square, and it has plenty to offer and more.

If you’re looking for a place to eat in the area nearby, look no further than Lori’s Diner. Open since 1986 this diner, themed in the 1950’s style, offers all-day breakfast and burgers. This Diner is open every day for 24 hours, and promises to be an excellent place to eat.

Of course, if you’re looking for something else to eat, try the Bangkok Noodles and Thai BBQ. Opens since 2000, Bangkok provides authentic and inexpensive Thai dishes. This restaurant offers beverages and desserts as well, and is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. every day.

Fisherman’s Wharf offers cable car rides around the San Francisco area. Being that the location is only fifteen minutes away from Union Square, the cable cars would be a perfect opportunity to do some sightseeing around San Francisco. Adults and children between the ages of 5 to 17 are charged $7 per ride, and Seniors or Medicare cardholders can receive $3 rides before he hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. An all-day passport can also be purchased for $17.
